Maintaining Your Carpet in Indianapolis
Keep your carpet in pristine condition with ProSand
Your new carpet is in and you love the look. To extend the life of your carpet and your investment follow these care guidelines:
Vacuum Often
You want to vacuum often to remove dirt and debris before it builds up. Sand, dirt and other debris act like tiny razor blades that can slice into and weaken carpet fibers. Damaged carpet will stain more easily and be less resilient.
Remove Shoes
Use Rugs and Mats
Place rugs or welcome mats outside and inside entrances. They can catch much of the dirt that people bring in on their shoes. This will mean less vacuuming and longer carpet life.
Clean Stains Right Away
It’s important to clean stains as quickly as possible to ensure the best chance for removal and the least amount of damage to your carpet.
We normally recommend blotting liquid first to soak up as much as possible. Then applying water or a cleaning solvent to a light-colored, clean cloth. Work from the outside of the stain to the center so you don’t spread the spot. Apply water or cleaner, extract/blot, rinse, extract, and repeat until you can’t get more of the stain out.
Extract solvent completely and dry the carpet quickly when you’re done. If there is any remaining stain deeper down in the carpet, quick drying prevents it from wicking up to the surface.
Pull Out the Shop Vac
Turn to a Carpet Cleaner
If you use a portable machine, be sure to get the water as hot as you can and dry carpet as quickly and as thoroughly as possible. You can do this by running over multiple times to extract water and cleaning solution. You won’t match the results of a truck-mount hot water extraction unit, but you can save money by doing your own cleaning and lengthen the time between professional cleanings.
